PayPal Donations Box
This app makes it easy for people to donate to you via credit card. It's exceptionally easy to use. You can easily setup a donate button that will allow your visitors to either donate a set amount, donate set amounts from a dropdown list of options you provide (e.g. $20, $50, $100) or leave the amounts blank so that the donator defines exactly how much he/she is wanting to donate.
When visitors use the donate button, they will be able to pay with their credit card through PayPal. They'll be directed to your PayPal hosted payment page, where they'll simply enter in their credit card details. After they do so, your PayPal account will be credited. When you're ready to get paid, you'll simply withdraw the funds from your PayPal account, and this will go directly into your bank account.
To start with, you'll need to setup a PayPal account. All you do, is register your email address with PayPal - people can then send you money using their credit card. To register, just go to paypal.com or follow the link, and click sign up. You'll either want to sign up with a premier or a business account. If you're trading under a company name, you'll most likely want to sign up with a business account.
Once you're signed up to PayPal, you're ready to start using the app. Firstly, enter the email address that you signed up to PayPal with. The boxes 'item name' and 'item number' are just for your reference. They're not necessary, but if you'd like to make an internal reference here that is meaningful to you, you can do so here. This will appear on your PayPal transaction.
Now, click on the 'advanced' tab. Your title, will simply appear above the donate button, so enter the text you want to appear here. If you're going to accept payment in New Zealand dollars, leave this as NZD. For a full list of currency codes, just click on the link, and replace 'nzd' with the three digit currency code you choose. Please note, you cannot have multiple currencies offered in the same app. If this is a requirement, you'd need to have multiple copies of your PayPal donations box - one for each currency.
Obviously, the 'specifiy amounts' is where you define your dollar amounts. You've got two options here. If you leave this box blank, your visitors will define how much they donate to you in an empty field on PayPal's payment page. If you want it to be a completely open donation amount, just leave this blank. Alternatively, you can define amounts for your visitors to select from. Let's say you'd want to give your visitors the option of donating $20, $50 or $100. You'd simply put 20, 50, and 100 on separate lines. Importantly, make sure you don't put a dollar sign before your figures, because this is already taken care of in the 'currency symbol'.
Finally, if you'd like to get custom, you can add your own image as your donate button. If you leave this blank, it will simply use PayPal's default donate image.
