Heya! My name's John and I look after the production and design team for 123 Online. The sales guys bring in the business, the design team work their designy-magic, our development team make the websites work, our support ninja does her ninja work, and I bring it together and make it all hum.
I started my first business at the age of 16, designing websites for small businesses all over the country. Although it was more of a hobby than a job, I quickly learned the ins-and-outs of the world wide web. After I finished high school, I spent a good 4-5 years at university. I achieved university qualifications in media and advertising, and post-graduate qualifications in industrial psychology. My focus throughout was on business, applying all I could to the Internet. Although I was very well educated in practical marketing and psychology (which made working in an advertising firm very appealing), I still had this 'drive' to be my own boss, create a business and make it a success.
In 2004 I started my own web hosting company, and my team and I successfully managed to convince around 250 clients to change their existing web hosting provider. Managing my clients taught me an awful lot about business and how it works in the real world.
The main lesson I learned was you can't over-complicate things! The easier you make things on people the better. I took that philosophy when I created this business, and once I teamed up with Justin I haven't looked back.
